I have 2007 at home, and 2010 on my work laptop. When taking an accounting spreadsheet from one computer to the other, the effort has been an nightmare. When simply moving data (more than one line at a time for monthly recurrency...16 entries, that companion several IF statement cells when moved around), the 2010 version will completely lock up and exit EXCEL 2010. The 2007 version was doing the same thing, but now goes into a contiuous refresh mode that makes it next to impossible to operate in 2007). I tried to save it as an earlier version, and the file tripled in size, and operated just as impossibly, but even slower. MS is a nightmare, and is the epitome of arrogant programming. These tools are supposed to help the end user, not harken back to the days of the abacus. I have always been an MS fan and stockholder, but these are unacceptable glitches. Thanks, Bill Gates...you are a dream....NOT.

Fustration is an under statement for this nightmare and the saddness of my case no one cares and I don't know how to correct it. I spend hours retyping information that I have save and also I made the mistake of deleteing a column and my sheet turned into sum #### and a loss of data that I had to retype again. You can never meet a deadline because of all the reentering of information. If you have tips on what not to do when entering informaion or a book to purchase for help . I have mention my problems to my administrators and I'm told to make sure my computer is in compatability mode and guess what that's not the answer to the problem. I do make sure I check the compatability but the answer to this problem is not simply being in compabiltity mode when you are entering information .

MS Outlook 2010 - SLOW SLOW SLOW

Another problem I've encountered with Microsoft Outlook is repeated crashing. Perhaps I'm too hasty in clicking buttons once Outlook 2010 has opened, but most days the programme will 'stop working' at least once, then automatically close and re-open.

It seems there are so many automated procedures that the programme gobbles up all the computer RAM. Isn't it strange that, no matter how much faster the processors become, no matter how much RAM and ROM the hard drive has been supplied with, computers always run at the same speed. Are computers designed to keep pace with the demands of software or do the software designers increase the memory use according to the advances in computer technology?

I would really like to know!

Outlook 2010 Password Request Fix

When I first went into Outlook 2010 to set up email accounts, I was really pleased to discover that it was virtually a one-click set up. Outlook simply contacts your server and fills in the form according to the server requirements, All you have to do is your enter password and email address.

Unfortunately, after setting up three email addresses in the same outlook user account, the system repeatedly launched a pop-up box asking for password confirmation. It did this for incoming and outgoing mail for each account and not login to any of them.

After much head scratching, swearing, fiddling with the settings and deleting temp files etc, I shut down the computer, unplugged the satellite router for about 30 seconds and then plugged it back in again.

Hey Presto! when I opened Outlook, the nasty little pop-ups had stopped. I don't know why it happens, but I have found this a useful fix on a number of occasions with login problems.

I appear not to be the first to have this problem with Outlook.

I love the new layout of Microsoft Office 2010 Word and Outlook - the functions, formats and tools are so much easier to find with the tabbed window and the new paste preview element is such a time saver. How many times have you pasted something into a document and it messed up the formatting? ..... now you simply hover over the various paste options and it automatically shows you what difference it makes.
